Puteti cumpara cartea aici.

~English~

A few weeks ago, I had the surprise to receive a message on my blog’s Instagram account (@littleredreaderhood) from an author who had just published his first book. I was very delighted by his proposal to read his book and to review it.

“Sigmund Shaw: A Steampunk Adventure” by Mark C. King is not only the first steampunk book I’ve ever read, but also the first book that I didn’t refuse to read just because it has lots of descriptions about the protagonist’s adventure.

Sigmund Shaw is an Englishman who started to steal at a short time after his father’s death, so that he could support his family. And as years pass, he discovers that he is more than good at it. So when his sister asks for help he doesn’t even think about refusing her, especially because the task he just got might represent a chance for his immobile niece to heal. But the intrigue starts when Sigmund finds out that behind his sister’s request there may be a whole plan for England to be at war again. Will he succeed to defeat the war faction?

  • What did I like about this book?

If you don’t read about it first, you might not even realize how recently it has been written. Of course, Mark C. King did his research very well about that epoch and about all the elements that came with it.

  •  What I wish I found more?

Maybe some details about the characters and not so many about the action.

  • What does this book have that others don’t?

Clearly, the explicit description of Sigmund’s tools, that he used as a thief. They aren’t just “something” that does “that”, the author nearly explains how they could be made (hmm). I really enjoyed finding that aspect in the whole story because I got the feeling that what I was reading was completely authentic.

  • Who do I recommend this book to?
  1. To those who have heard of Steampunk, but they never tried it.
  2. To those who like monkeys. (hihi♥).
  3. To those who can face another aspect of politics, one that is not so frequently discussed.

You can buy the book here.
